Pat Deering set to take Carlow Seat

In a poll carried out by Sunday Independent/Quantum Research professional researchers last week, Fine Gael are set to take 47% of the vote in the Carlow Kilkenny constituency. Of this, Pat Deering is expected to take 14% thus securing the third seat in the constituency for Fine Gael and a strong voice for Carlow in the next Dáil. Writing in last weeks Sunday Independent, John Drennan notes that ‘in a stunning display of vote management, FG’s three candidates are poised to be elected in the early counts’.

Commenting on the poll results over the weekend, Pat Deering said he was very encouraged by the poll results but he also cautioned that not one vote was yet cast in the election, and he and his colleagues would leave nothing to chance. ‘The Executive Council have very carefully carved up the constituency among us three candidates and if the vote carry’s in accordance with this divide, we will win the three seats. As a team we are committed to this goal and we are working very much in unity to achieve this’ said Deering.

Speaking from Kilkenny, Pats running mate, Phil Hogan TD said ‘I want all Fine Gael supporters in County Carlow to vote No 1 for Pat Deering in order to change the government and to win an overall majority for Fine Gael and continue their preferences for John Paul Phelan and myself in Kilkenny’

End.
