Good News for Knockbeg College

3rd October, 2011

Carlow Fine Gael TD Pat Deering is pleased to announce that Knockbeg College Carlow has moved a step closer to their ‘New School’.

Technically it won’t be a ‘New School’ because some of the original buildings are listed and can not be demolished. The project will involve a total refurbishment of existing buildings as well as a significant extension.

The advertisement seeking Design Team Consultants for the proposed project has now been published.

“This is good news for Knockbeg” Pat Deering said this week “this refurbishment and extension is long overdue and has been talked about for decades, it is another statement of this Governments commitment to Education. Knockbeg Principal Cyril Hughes has been working on this for a number of years now and great credit is due to Cyril for his persistence”.

This will also be a major construction project “it may take twelve months or more before work commences on site but its great to have got over this significant hurdle”
