Minister Brian Hayes visits Carlow to launch final phase of Drainage Scheme.

24th February, 2012

Minister Brian Hayes will visit Carlow today to see at first hand the progress made on The Carlow Flood Relief Drainage Scheme. This nearly €20m project is due to finish this year. As well as viewing work already done Minister Hayes will also launch the final phase, which is the completion of the drainage works in Pembroke and the resurfacing of the roads and streets around Carlow Town.

Carlow Fine Gael TD Pat Deering will welcome Minister Hayes and walk the streets with him. “this is good news for Carlow” Deputy Deering said,” this work has been ongoing for almost two years now and as well as getting the drainage scheme finished which will relieve the horrendous flooding of Carlow Town that has been so destructive over the years,it will also be great to have the roads resurfaced, they have been in a very poor state which was unavoidable during the drainage works, but the people of Carlow will be glad to get their town back.

Minister Hayes will also visit the state owned Altamont Gardens.
