Autism Mothers take next step.

5th April, 2012

This morning (Tuesday) three Carlow mothers take their case to the next step, to have their Domiciliary Care Allowance reinstated after it was cut last December. Following their very successful information day in Dail Eireann recently they are today meeting with senior officials from the Department of Social Protection as well as Minister Burton’s advisors.

Helen Fahy, Lorraine Ryan and Amy Doogue, along with Catherine Cox and Pat Grogan of the Carers Association, will be joined by Pat Deering TD, who arranged the meeting for the group with the officials. Deputy Deering who has had a lot of contact with the three mothers over the past four months said “I am pleased to accompany the group to meet the the officials and ministers advisors, I know this is not about three mothers and their children, it’s about all families across the country who unfortunately find themselves in similar circumstances. I’m sure the meeting will be very constructive and I look forward to offering whatever assistance I can.”

“These are three brave mothers who are willing to do what ever they have to do for what they believe in” deputy Deering concluded.
