Much debate at First Meeting.

28th May, 2012

Hacketstown / Clonmore branch of Fine Gael has been reformed. At a recently well attended first meeting there was great debate on many issues of the day. Household tax, water charges, septic tanks and the Stability Treaty were among the topics discussed.

Deputies Billy Timmins and Pat Deering were in attendance and both addressed the meeting. This part of County Carlow is currently in the Wicklow / East Carlow constituency served by Baltinglass TD Billy Timmins but neighbour and Rathvilly man Pat Deering hopes it will soon return to it’s ‘natural home’ of Carlow / Kilkenny.

The following officers were elected : Chairperson : Michael O’Flaherty Jnr., Vice chair : dan Quinn, Secretary : Michelle Garland, Treasurers : Jimmy Byrne and Therese Connolly, PRO : Damien Kelly.

It was a good meeting and the group look forward to going from strength to strength. Anybody who is interested in becoming a member of the group can do so by contacting any of the TD’s or Councillors in the area.
