Back to School Clothing & Footwear Allowance.

8th June, 2012

8th June 2012.

I wish to let youknow that the administrative arrangements for the 2012 Backto School Clothing & Footwear Allowance (BSCFA) Scheme are similar to those that applied in 2011.  Again this year, a large proportion of BSCFA entitlements (over 110,000) will befully automated with no application form required.  Letters will issue to the people concerned atthe end of next week informing them of their entitlement and notifying them that payment will issue in week commencing 16 July.

Customers who do not receive an automated payment are required to complete application forms which are being processed from a centralised unitin the Department’s office in Letterkenny.

To avoid duplication with automated payments, customers are requested to wait until 20th June before submitting anapplication form. Forms will be available from Local Offices, via SMS (text “Form BTSCFA” followed by your name andaddress to 51909)  and on www.welfare.ie.    A text message acknowledging receipt will issue this year to each customer who submits a manual claim so it is important that customers provide a mobile phonenumber as requested on the claim form.

A phone bank will beoperational from Friday 8th June to deal with queries on the scheme. The LOCALL number is 1890662244.
