Deering welcomes commitments in the planning review report

15th June, 2012

Carlow Fine Gael TD, Pat Deering, has welcomed the publication of the planning review report by Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan, and the clear commitments that the Minister has made to implement the recommendations arising out of this report.

“I am pleased that the report of the planning review has been finalised and its findings have now been made public. Minister O’Sullivan has committed to implementing the 12 actions contained in this report and she is also appointing an independent planning consultant who will be required to assess all actions contained in the planning review report and propose any additional measures that may be deemed appropriate and report back to the Minister.

“The actions recommended in this report will improve the planning system and ensure greater transparency and consistency across all planning authorities. This Government is committed to restoring public confidence in the planning system which was badly damaged by past actions and incidents of corruption.”
