Carlow Fine Gael TD, Pat Deering, has welcomed the announcement by Transport Minister Leo Varadkar TD, that the 2013 Regional and Local Roads Allocations includes Carlow for almost €4.5m. A total of €4,449,857 has been allocated to the county through Carlow County & Town councils.

“I am delighted with this allocation. In particular I am pleased that €400k has been setaside for Thomas Traynor Street in Tullow, a project that is long overdue and I have lobbied Minister Varadkar for this for a number of months now. Also there has been €250k allocated to make safe the slippage to the slope at Ballykeenan”.

“Almost €3.5m has been allocated to Carlow County Council for maintenance, road improvement, winter maintenance and discretionary grant. €340k has also been granted to Carlow Town Council for maintenance”.

“This is a huge allocation, almost €4.5m, which as well as been of enormous benefit to the Counties roads and to the people who use them, look at the value of the work in terms of money spent and employment”.
