Deering Encourages the Quarter who haven’t paid the Household Charge to do so.

26th April, 2013

Carlow Fine Gael TD, Pat Deering, has urged Carlow people who haven’t yet paid their 2012 Household Charge to do so before the 30th April to avoid further penalties and Interest charges.

If the charge is paid on or before next Tuesday 30th it stands at €130. After that it will be €144 if paid during May and €145 in June. From 1st July 2013 it will be increased to €200 and will added to the Local Property Tax (LPT) due on the property.

“This charge is due and will be collected. In fairness to all those who have complied with the law it is only proper that those who haven’t paid it are pursued. The charge will be €200 from 1st July, it will be added to the LPT and will be collected by the Revenue Commissioners. There will be no escaping this, the Revenue Commissioners will stop the money due, whether it be arrears of the Household Charge or the new LPT, from peoples income, salary or social welfare.

“Almost 74% of Carlow People have paid the Household Charge at this stage, slightly more than the national average and I’m encouraging all who haven’t paid it to so as soon as possible, it’s not going to go away and it’s will become more painful by leaving it.
