€536,428 granted to Carlow County Development Partnership – Deering

Fine Gael TD for Carlow/Kilkenny, Pat Deering, has today (Thursday) welcomed the announcement by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, of €536,428 in funding for the Carlow County Development Partnership.

 “I am delighted with this week’s announcement that Carlow County Development Partnership (CCDP) has been granted €536,428 under the Local and Community Development Programme. This funding will go a long way towards supporting the work of the CCDP, which provides training facilities and courses to assist unemployed people in Carlow get back into the workforce.

 “The CCDP also provides funding for small start-up businesses. Last year, one start-up business was awarded funding to set up a motorbike repair shop which is now going from strength to strength.

 “The Local and Community Development Programme has made been making great strides in helping people return to employment. The Programme tackles poverty and social exclusion in disadvantaged areas in society. In 2014, through this programme, it is expected that 44,000 will engage through one-to-one interventions to assist with gaining employment.”
