€2.22 million funding approved for Rathvilly & Hackettstown Sewerage Treatment Plants – Deering

20th December, 2013

Carlow Fine Gael TD, Pat Deering, has today (Friday) welcomed the announcement by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, that approval has been given to Carlow County Council to accept the tenders from Response Engineering Ltd for €1.16 million for the Hackettstown Interim Advanced Works and Veolia Water Ireland for €1.06m for Rathvilly.

“I am delighted with this announcement that €2.22 million in funding has been approved under the Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2013 for the Hackettstown & Rathvilly Sewerage Schemes. This funding will allow for the modernisation of the waste-water treatment facilities and also to increase the capacity.

“Carlow County Council can now proceed with finalising contractual details so that work can commence on the facilities. Once complete, both facilities will triple the existing capacity of the treatment plants, allowing for increased demand and future proofing capacity required by the communities.
