Deering expresses disappointment at HSE’s failure to fill radiographer post in St Dymphna’a Hospital

Fine Gael Carlow/Kilkenny TD, Pat Deering, has today (Friday) expressed his disappointment at the HSE’s failure to appoint a radiographer to the x-ray department of St Dymphna’s Hospital in Carlow.

“The HSE gave me an assurance back in January that the process was underway to replace a senior radiographer post at St Dymphna’s. Yet seven months later, the post remains unfilled.

“I again raised the issue at the start of this month, and in response the HSE has said that the radiography post has been ‘identified as a priority’ by St Luke’s Hospital.

“To put it bluntly, this isn’t good enough. If this post was really being treated as a priority, it shouldn’t take seven months to fill.

“The provision of x-rays services in St Dymphna’s is very important for patients attending the hospital. The x-ray department helps to facilitate improved accessibility to diagnostic services for the Carlow population.

“I am calling on the HSE to give this post the attention it deserves and immediately appoint a senior radiographer to St Dymphna’s.”
