Confirmation of Primary Care Centre for Tullow – DEERING.

4th December, 2014

Fine Gael Carlow TD, Pat Deering, has received confirmation from the HSE of a new Primary Care Centre for Tullow.

“I recently submitted a Dáil question to the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, looking for an update on the Primary Care Centre for Tullow. This week I received a formal response from the HSE, confirming the go-ahead for this Centre for the Tullow / Rathvilly / Hacketstown area.

“The project brief for this new Centre, which will consist of an extension to the existing health centre in Tullow, has been completed and the HSE has confirmed to me that its Capital Steering Committee has approved the project.

“The HSE is currently in talks to purchase land adjacent to the building for the extension and design of the project will begin once this phase has been successfully completed.

“The Government is moving towards universal health care, something we said before the election would take two terms of Government. A hugely important part of the first phase of this is to strengthen primary care, as we are doing right around the country. I am delighted that Carlow is also to see the benefits of this strategy with this new planned Primary Care Centre.”
