€750K for IT Carlow – Deering

10th December, 2015

Fine Gael TD for Carlow Kilkenny, Pat Deering, has welcomed the allocation of €750,000 for IT Carlow, to carry out maintenance and development of facilities and equipment.

“I am delighted that IT Carlow is to receive €750,000 in funding as part of a €10 million Infrastructure Maintenance Fund Grant for Institutes of Technology.

“The Institutes can use the funds to discharge costs already incurred on a range of small-scale building works, refurbishment of existing facilities and / or upgrading equipment.

“Funding like this is crucial to keep IT Carlow well maintained and equipped so that it can provide a top class working environment for its students.

“IT Carlow is a hugely valuable resource in the South East, producing highly educated and skilled graduates to meet the employment demands created by our recovering economy. The South-East Regional Action Plan for Jobs sets out a specific path for creating 25,000 new jobs by 2018.

“Fine Gael has a plan to keep this recovery going and to create even more employment. More jobs mean increased tax revenue with which we can make these kinds of investments in our education system and deliver improved public services generally.”
