Positive step forward for Muine Bheag Vocational School – Deering

School to take 1st year enrolments this September

Fine Gael TD for Carlow/Kilkenny, Pat Deering, has welcomed what he termed a positive step forward for Muine Bheag Vocational School today with the establishment of a task force to find solutions, and the announcement that the school will take 1st year enrolments this September.

“It is very encouraging that a taskforce has now been set up by Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board to look into the situation with Muine Bheag Vocational School and find solutions for the future of the school.

“The taskforce is going to examine how to grow the school for the future and encourage student enrolments among other things. The first meeting of the taskforce will take place this Friday morning.

“I am particularly pleased to hear that the school is going to take 1st year enrolments this coming September. This is a very positive statement, showing confidence in the future of the school.

“No doubt this news will come as a relief to the students, parents and teachers of Muine Bheag Vocational School, after what has been a very uncertain time for all concerned.

“I wish the taskforce, under the independent chairmanship of Joe O’Connell, all the very best in their work to secure the future of Muine Bheag Vocational School.”
