Confirmation of go ahead for new respite centre – DEERING.

Fine Gael Carlow/Kilkenny TD, Pat Deering, has said he has received confirmation from the HSE regarding progress on securing a location the provision of respite care services for Carlow. .

“In response to local concerns regarding the provision of respite care for children with special needs, I brought the Minister for Health Simon Harris to visit Carlow and he met with parent representative regarding the respite house. Following on from this visit to Carlow in August a commitment for a new respite centre was agreed as I had made the Minister aware of concerns about the future of the service”.

“The Minister committed to the establishment of a new respite home, which as local people will know is badly needed for Carlow and it is hoped to recommence the overnight respite service in early 2017. The Respite tender documents are currently being finalised and it is expected that the tender process will be advertised in due course on
