New funding for Gender Equality in Carlow – DEERING

Fine Gael TD for Carlow, Pat Deering has announced €303,560 funding for organisations supporting gender equality in Carlow.

Grants totally €13 million have been made available across the country by the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality Frances Fitzgerald TD and the Minister of State for Integration, Immigration and Equality, David Stanton TD.  

Deputy Deering said “Under the Gender Equality Strand – Women Returning to the Workforce, St. Catherine’s Community Services Centre will receive funding of €303,560 for The Carlow Catalyst Programme for Women. 

Deputy Deering stated “There is still some way to go to achieving gender equality in the workplace. Women continue to have lower overall levels of participation in the workforce, are paid less and have less access to senior positions. Women are also less likely to own or manage their own businesses.  

Deering added “This funding will directly support women to access the labour market here in Carlow. It will also help more women to become successful entrepreneurs.” 

“These grants for will bolster the good work being carried out every day by local community organisations and national NGOs here in Carlow.
