Eight new local authority homes for Rathvilly.

8th October, 2018

Fine Gael TD Pat Deering has secured €1.6 million in funding for eight new local authority homes in Rathvilly, Co Carlow.
Deputy Deering said: “I am delighted to confirm eight new homes will be built in Rathvilly.
“This is very welcome news as it will take eight local families off the local housing list and into new homes, which will in turn free up some private rented accommodation.
“It is important also as it will offer security to families who have been privately renting for the past number of years.
“This year is the 50th anniversary of Rathvilly last winning the Tidy towns.  We have a great community spirit and it will be great to see new families in the area.”
Deputy Deering continued: “In the first half of this year, over 12,000 additional housing solutions have been provided across all local authorities.
“During the same timeframe, some 4,600 homes were under construction and some 1,500 were about to go on site.
“Good headway is being made. We will definitely reach our target of 25,000 new homes per annum by 2020.
“We are building more and more social houses: from virtually zero in 2013 after the crash, we built 664 in 2016, and 2,297 in 2017.”
